Patrick Mahomes getting bailed out by the refs AGAIN. Lions get stomped by a rookie, and Zach Ertz has butter fingers? Let's dive into it.
AFC Game 1: Kansas City Chiefs (#1) vs. Houston Texans (#4)
For all that its worth, the Texans put up a good fight in this game. Everyone in America wanted the Texans to win but knew that it was a long stretch. After all, the Texans were not just facing the chiefs, but also the refs. There were a couple of questionable calls this game, but none stands out to me more than the one where the announcer goes "Oh, come on!". Not even the Mahomes-glazing announcers could take it anymore. Also shoutout Patrick Mahomes for trying to weasel his way into getting penalties - real exciting football being played down there in Kansas City.
But let's forget the refs for a second and focus on the game itself, as it was a good game up until the end. A defensive struggle for much of the game with a few scores thrown in every once in a while. Shoutout Nico Collins, my fantasy WR1, who had 5 catches and 81 receptions on the day. He was truly their only shining light all game. Other than that, the game inevitably came down to the Chiefs winning the game. You gotta admit, love them or hate them, the Chiefs know how to win football games. Let's all gather this Sunday and pray for the Bills to finally shatter the glass ceiling next week and head to the super bowl.
NFC Game 1: Detroit Lions (#1) vs. Washington Commanders (#6)
I entered this game a Lions fan and came out the other end a Jayden Daniels fan. It's one thing for a rookie to do well in the regular season - but for him to be this elite in the post season? Unheard of. Jayden Daniels is giving RG3 vibes, lets just hope he can play at this level for a long time. The Lions simply got outplayed here - end to end. You hate to see it. A Detroit fandom which has suffered for so long finally gets their miracle season... only for them to lose in their first postseason game. Not to say that this year was a total failure, getting the number 1 seed in the NFC and getting their best season in franchise history is no meager task - and should be celebrated. This loss, however, has me counting my blessings that I'm not a Lions fan. My thoughts and prayers go out to their fanbase.
But can we talk about that kid Jayden Daniels for a second??? 300 yards passing, 2 TDs on 22/31 passing is unbelievable. He looked cool as a cucumber on the pitch, making veteran decisions and leading his team to an eye-popping 45 points. This man is THE TRUTH. Argue with a wall if you don't believe me. I will absolutely be rooting for this team to make the super bowl and let their Cinderella story continue. Jayden Daniels - you are an inspiration to us all.
AFC Game 2: Buffalo Bills (#2) vs. Baltimore Ravens (#3)
Ok, forget the Lions fandom. My thoughts and prayers this week are going to none other than Zach Ertz - who might want to lay low for a little. I'm no Ravens fan - but being a fan of football even I was disappointed by his now infamous drop on the 2 point conversion. Not only were we robbed of last minute drives and potentially overtime - we were also robbed of Lamar Jackson entering deep into the playoffs. If I were to give any advice to Lamar - I would tell him to join an NFC team. Patrick Mahomes is like Thanos - inevitable and will somehow find a way to beat you. Join the Seahawks, or the 49ers for all I care. Just get out of there. As for the Bills - congrats on the hard earned victory, I am very excited to watch Josh Allen beat the bricks out of Kansas City next Week and advance to his first Super Bowl (manifesting?). Overall great game and certainly lived up to the hype.
NFC Game 2: Philadelphia Eagles (#2) vs. Los Angeles Rams (#4)
This game pleasantly surprised me. I went in with no expectations of the game whatsoever - but came out thoroughly entertained. I have no major thoughts on either team but thought both teams played well and both could've deserved the victory. Congratulations to the Eagles for winning the game on a last second stop by the defense to clinch the game. Might need to get that kicker situation checked out though.
Recap: Lots of great games this week and none of the games felt like blowouts. Zach Ertz will be the target of numerous death threats from people who have nothing happy in their lives but don't worry Zach it will all subside eventually.
Predictions next week: Bills beat the Chiefs - Josh Allen finally gets over the glass ceiling and takes down his rival Patrick Mahomes.
Commanders beat the Eagles - Series is 1-1 this year and I believe in the Danalytics team to figure it out against the Eagles again next week.
Thanks for reading and don't forget to like and comment! Cheers.
